To continue receiving a government pension through Pension Disbursing Authorities (PDAs) such as banks, post offices, and others, retired personnel above the age of 60 and family pensioners must submit their digital life certificate each year between November 1 and November 30. This requires the submission of the life certificate by November 30. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) issued a circular on September 20th clarifying that a central government pensioner may submit his or her Digital Life Certificate either manually or digitally. Pensioners can submit a Life Certificate online through the Jeevan Pramaan Portal from the convenience of their homes.
They can also submit their life certificate using the India Post Payments Bank’s Doorstep Service. A pensioner can access this service by downloading the “Postinfo App” and having their life certificate delivered to their doorstep by a postman. However, to make things easier for retirees, the country’s largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI), recently announced a new initiative that allows pensioners to submit their life certificates via a simple video chat.
- Procedures for submitting a life certificate through video call According to SBI, submitting life certificates through video call is simple, secure, rapid, paperless, and free.
- As a result, simply follow these procedures to submit your life certificate through video call. To begin the Video Life Certificate (VLC) process, visit the SBI Pension Seva website (pensionseva.sbi) and click on ‘Video LC’.
- Input your SBI Pension Account Number and the One-Time Password (OTP) that was sent to your registered mobile number. Now that you’ve read and accepted the ‘Terms & Conditions,’ click on ‘Begin Journey.’ Now, keep your actual PAN Card on hand and click on ‘I am prepared’.
- Authorise the video conference to begin, and your interaction will begin as soon as an SBI official becomes available. Additionally, you can schedule your video call interaction in order to submit your life certificate at your convenience.
- Once an SBI representative accepts your video call, you will be prompted to read the four-digit verification code displayed on your screen. Now display your PAN Card for the official to photograph, and the official will photograph you.
- Now that the video life certificate process is complete, you will receive an SMS from the bank on your registered cellphone number if your application is rejected for any reason.
