Taxpayers be clued up on a new tax filing site that is about to get launched soon. A new e-filing portal will be launched on June 7, by the Income Tax department replacing the old one. The new portal is expected to make the process easier and hassle-free.
The directorate of Income Tax further added in a notice that services on the portal will not be available from June 1st to 6th. It shall not be available to both the taxpayers and the department itself.
The income tax officers have been directed to fix hearing or compliance related matters only from June 10th onwards to give taxpayers time to respond to the new system, as per the notice. Pre-scheduled hearings will be adjusted, either preponed or postponed to June 10.
Further the ITBA and CPC system will continue to function for assessment related functions. All orders, notices issued during the period will be visible to taxpayers after the new portal goes live on June 7.
The individual as well as business category taxpayers use the e filing portal to file their ITRs. They can also raise complaints to seek refunds or regarding other matters with the department.
At the same time the offers also use the portal for issuance of notices, show case notices and getting response to various e-proceedings, letters, responding to outstanding tax demand etc. Assessing officers, chief income tax officers for appeal and principal commissioner of income tax also interact with taxpayers with the help of the portal.
The new portal will make the process more user friendly.
The transition from old portal –www.incometaxindiafiling.gov.in-to the new-www.incometaxgov.in-will be completed and the new portal will be operational from June 7.
