The issue of flaws in the Income-Tax Department’s recently introduced e-filing system will be discussed during an interactive meeting between senior Finance Ministry officials and an Infosys team on Tuesday, the Central Board of Direct Taxes said today.

Other stakeholders, such as members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, auditors, consultants, and taxpayers, will also participate in the June 22 engagement, according to a news release.

“Stakeholders have also been requested to submit written statements regarding the problems/difficulties encountered with the platform. Representatives from the Infosys team will be on hand to answer questions, clarify concerns, and solicit feedback on the portal’s operation in order to eliminate faults and resolve concerns encountered by taxpayers “According to the department’s statement.
Infosys, the IT giant, designed the “next-generation” income-tax filing system, which was supposed to significantly shorten the time required to process returns. The portal became operational on June 8.

The new portal has encountered a number of technological difficulties, causing inconvenience to taxpayers. According to the government, stakeholders have been invited to provide input on the challenges they confront.

However, customers had reported concerns, with many of them posting screenshots of the broken website to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s official Twitter account. She then tweeted her complaint to Nandan Nilekani, Infosys’s non-executive Chairman.
